Those teams may focus on drafting, processing and/or direct applicant contact work. Skills and Experience Qualifications in community services, social work, counselling, psychology and other qualifications related to mental health will be very highly regarded. Experience in community services, mental health, counselling, psychology, and well-being related areas. Experience working in trauma informed environments engaging with vulnerable sectors of the community in person and over the phone. Experience in leadership roles and managing a small team in a complex environment where teams will be engaging with difficult, sensitive material. Strong skills and experience with case management and application processing involving problem solving, difficult content and/or working with vulnerable people, as well as related administrative tasks. Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements within case management and application processing frameworks. Prior work in Commonwealth Government will be highly regarded, as well as strong administrative skills. Empathy, professionalism, excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive, confronting or escalated conversations. Ability to work in a changing environment including undertaking calls that are complex in nature. Agile, self-awareness and the ability to self-manage in a diverse team with a high workload. Experience using digital office products including MS suite of products and case management software. Ability to critically analyse cases and apply policy and regulatory frameworks to cases to support sound, evidence based outcomes. Prior experience in Commonwealth Government settings. The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively, showing understanding of internal team dynamics, as well as stakeholders who may have backgrounds of trauma, and showing respect for cultural values and practices. Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong sense of empathy and ability to handle sensitive, confronting or escalated conversations. Duties Applying and supporting the objectives of relevant policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with privacy protocols and contribution to operational process efficiency. Promoting a well-being culture within the team through initiatives to support the team, undertaking training/professional development, and applying knowledge of trauma informed practice to provide safe and quality service to survivors of childhood sexual abuse and a team working in that environment. Effectively manage and prioritise workloads for self and others. Being accountable for a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring that team outcomes are achieved. Actively researching and analysing information, providing recommendations and supporting evidence. Reviewing and potentially investigating applications and cases. Making and receiving calls to applicants and their nominees (this includes receiving calls from the Scheme's phone line and collecting details of abuse from applicants) to progress application outcomes. Preparing, editing, and quality-checking letters and notices sent to applicants, nominees, and institutions. Working and communicating with staff, colleagues and stakeholders to build positive partnerships to progress applications. Understanding and supporting the strategic direction of the area, including managing change in a dynamic environment. To be eligible for this role you must be willing and able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance with the Australian Government Vetting Agency, or have an existing or recently inactive clearance of that level. It may also involve phone calls with distressed survivors and collecting abuse information.
